Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) describes activities that are prohibited on the HangarOS platform. It is part of our Terms of Service and applies to every customer, user, and visitor.
If you violate this AUP, we may suspend or terminate your Account, remove content, refer the matter to law enforcement, or pursue other available remedies. We may update this AUP from time to time.
1. General principles
You are responsible for everything done on or through your Account, including actions taken by your Users, contractors, employees, students, instructors, and anyone you authorize.
You must not use the Service in a way that:
- damages, disables, overburdens, or impairs the Service or any related infrastructure;
- interferes with the use or enjoyment of the Service by other customers;
- circumvents quotas, rate limits, security controls, or feature gates; or
- violates any applicable law.
2. Prohibited activities
You may not use the Service to:
2.1 Engage in illegal activity
- Violate any local, state, national, or international law or regulation.
- Promote or facilitate fraud, money laundering, terrorism financing, drug trafficking, human trafficking, or other unlawful conduct.
- Evade taxes, customs duties, or other regulatory obligations.
- Violate aviation laws or FAA regulations.
2.2 Harass, abuse, or harm others
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, stalk, or abuse any person.
- Promote hate speech, violence, discrimination, or bullying.
- Publish private information about a person without their consent.
- Sexualize, exploit, or endanger minors.
2.3 Spam, phish, or send unsolicited communications
- Send spam, phishing, smishing, or other unsolicited commercial communications.
- Generate bulk email, SMS, or invoices to recipients who have not consented to receive them.
- Send fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading invoices to anyone (see also Section 2.9).
2.4 Compromise security
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, accounts, systems, or networks.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, except through coordinated disclosure to security@hangaros.com.
- Interfere with or disrupt servers, networks, or the Service.
- Use automated tools (scrapers, crawlers, bots) without our written permission.
- Bypass rate limiting, captchas, or other access controls.
- Access internal, undocumented, or unauthorized API endpoints.
- Forge, manipulate, or remove authentication or authorization signals.
2.5 Violate intellectual property rights
- Upload, post, or transmit content that infringes any patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, or other intellectual property right.
- Distribute pirated software, illegal content, or stolen material.
- Use the Service to build, support, or improve a product or service that competes with HangarOS.
- Train, fine-tune, or otherwise develop a machine learning model using HangarOS data, outputs, or behavior.
2.6 Distribute malicious code
- Upload or transmit viruses, worms, ransomware, trojans, rootkits, or any code intended to disable, damage, or surveil the Service or any user.
2.7 Misrepresent yourself
- Impersonate any person or entity.
- Misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
- Create accounts under false names or with false identifying information.
- Misrepresent the origin, status, or content of any record in the Service, including FAA-regulated records.
2.8 Abuse resources
- Use the Service in a manner that consumes resources disproportionate to your subscription tier.
- Run cryptocurrency mining or similar workloads.
- Cause performance impact to other customers.
2.9 Misuse the Invoicing module
- Create fraudulent, fictitious, inflated, duplicate, or misleading invoices.
- Bill recipients for goods or services that were not provided or not authorized.
- Use the Invoicing module to launder funds, evade taxes, or harass recipients.
- Bill amounts beyond what is owed to you under your agreement with the recipient.
2.10 Misuse AI features
- Use AI-assisted features (lesson reports, squawk analysis, maintenance intelligence, weather risk advisory, student progress digest, document assistance, smart schedule) as a substitute for the professional judgment of a certificated flight instructor, certificated mechanic, chief instructor, or other qualified person.
- Use AI outputs as the sole basis for any operational, training, maintenance, or regulatory decision without independent verification by a qualified human.
- Submit prompts intended to extract personal data of others, infringe intellectual property, or bypass safety controls.
2.11 Abuse FAA-regulated records
- Falsify, backdate, alter without authorization, or destroy any record subject to FAA recordkeeping requirements (including 14 CFR Parts 61 and 141 records).
- Issue, endorse, or sign records on behalf of a certificated person without their authorization.
3. Content standards
Content you upload, post, transmit, or generate using the Service must not:
- be defamatory, obscene, pornographic, abusive, or harassing;
- promote violence, self-harm, or discrimination;
- infringe intellectual property or privacy rights;
- contain private information about others without authorization; or
- contain malicious code or links.
4. Account security responsibilities
You must:
- maintain the confidentiality of your credentials;
- use strong, unique passwords;
- enable multi-factor authentication when required;
- restrict access to authorized Users only;
- monitor your Account for unauthorized activity; and
- notify us immediately at security@hangaros.com if you suspect a security incident, credential compromise, or unauthorized use.
5. Reporting violations
To report a violation, email abuse@hangaros.com with as much detail as possible: the violation, the parties involved, the URL or Account at issue, timestamps, and any supporting evidence. We will investigate and take appropriate action.
To report a security vulnerability, email security@hangaros.com. Please give us a reasonable opportunity to remediate before public disclosure.
6. Enforcement
We may take any of the following actions for AUP violations:
- issue a written warning;
- temporarily suspend access to all or part of the Service;
- permanently terminate the Account;
- remove or disable access to violating content;
- refer the matter to law enforcement; and
- pursue any other available legal or equitable remedy.
We have no obligation to monitor content but reserve the right to do so. We may act without notice if we believe a violation poses immediate risk.
Appeals. If you believe action was taken in error, you may appeal by emailing legal@hangaros.com within 14 days. We will review and respond.
